June was born on June 20, 1937, in Sac City, Iowa, to Ralph and Alice (Larson) Sharon. She spent her childhood years on the family farm near Yetter, Iowa, where she learned the values of hard work and family. June graduated from Lake City High School with the Class of 1955.
June met LeRoy Heinrichs, and they were married on June 15, 1957, in Halbur, Iowa. To this union, they were blessed with five children. June was a devoted mother who cherished time spent with her family. When her children grew older, June worked at Fareway Grocery Store and later at General Electric. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping, creating many lasting memories.
In 1990, June met her lifelong companion, Robert “Bob” Smith. Together, Bob and June were snowbirds for more than 20 years, spending winters in Corpus Christi, Texas. While there, they enjoyed visiting casinos, fishing, and playing cards with friends. June remained active throughout her life and enjoyed swimming and exercising at the Carroll Recreation Center. In her later years, she especially loved playing cards with her lady friends at Orchard View Apartments, valuing friendship, laughter, and companionship.
June is survived by her companion, Robert Smith; her five children: Dennis (Gail) Heinrichs of Yetter, Iowa; Joleen (Doug) Wittrock of Spencer, Iowa; Cathy (Bruce) McCollister of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mike (Alice) Heinrichs of Webster City, Iowa; and Tom (CynDi) Heinrichs of McClelland, Iowa; 17 grandchildren: Larry, Christy, Rachel, Sara, Matthew, Amber, Jill, Jeff, Keith, John, Beth, Molly, Nicole, Ryan, Colin, Brian, and Nick; 23 great-grandchildren; her brother Gerald (Linda) Sharon of Denison, Iowa; her brother-in-law Jerry (Pat) Heinrichs of Omaha, Nebraska; her sister-in-law Sally Heinrichs of Carroll, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by LeRoy Heinrichs; her parents, Ralph and Alice Sharon; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Kaay) Sharon and Loren (Marge) Sharon; her grandson, Denny Heinrichs, Jr.; and her brothers-in-law, Melvin Heinrichs, Eugene Heinrichs, William Heinrichs, and Jim (Jolene) Heinrichs. June will be lovingly missed and remembered by Bob, her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
