Jeanne, daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Bruggeman) Grabner, was born January 28, 1945, at Carroll, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm near Breda. At a young age, Jeanne became ill with a high fever resulting in a brain injury that left her severely disabled. In her 30s, she made her home in care facilities in Glenwood, Shelby and eventually New Hope Village in Carroll.
In a testament to resilience and spirit, she was cared for at each facility and watched lovingly by her parents and siblings. In her early years, she enjoyed spending time outside on the farm and soaring through the air on her swing.
She loved puzzles, coloring and was an avid and speedy walker. Coffee and flavored drinks were a special favorite of hers and everything in her life was always in order. She also enjoyed vocational training at the facilities where she lived.
Jeanne is survived by her siblings: Linda (David) Johnson of Estero, FL; David (Mary Lou) Grabner of Breda; Barb (Bill) Grabner-Kerns of Leavenworth, KS; and Debra (John) Adams of Summerville, SC; her nieces and nephews: Kimberly Lo, Joe Grabner, Jennifer McLean, Jim Grabner and John Grabner; and by many other extended relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Tom Grabner.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and care teams at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and St. Anthony hospitals. A very special thanks to the caregivers at New Hope Village.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Village in Carroll, Iowa.
